So Twitter recently made a change to their terms of service, and there they have mentioned that our Tweets now belong to us. In other words, our Tweets DID NOT BELONG TO US until September 10th, 2009. Hmm.

Imagine yourself attending a creative writing class and the instructor tells you “your creations that come out of this class belong to us, not you.” I would be shocked to hear this –probably as shocked as I had felt when I read Twitter’s press release.

Twitterは10日、サービス利用規約の改定を発表した。改定規約では、ユーザーの「つぶやき」はユーザー自身に所有権があることを明記した上で、ユーザーはTwitterに「つぶやき」の複製・加工などを行う権利を与えるとしている。

一瞬自分の目を疑ってしまった。つまり、これって９月１０日以前は、自分たちのつぶやきを自分たちが所有していなかったって事。つまり、例えば書道教室に通うとする。そこで先生が、「この書道教室で書かれた作品はこの教室で書かれた故に、所有権はあなた達ではなく私たちに帰属します」って言われるような物で。ちょっと信じられないよね。
